Shavuos Night Learning at HJC

Hello everyone,

I wanted to let you know about our program at HJC this Shavuos.
The Tikun Leil Shavuos will start at approximately 12:30am.

The topics will be all about the Chain of the Mesorah, from Moshe Rabbeinu till today.

This will all be based on the Rambam’s introduction to the Mishneh Torah, copies of said introduction which will be provided. This short work covers many topics, such as the nature of Torah she’baal Peh, Jewish history, rabbinic authority, among other issues.

If you prefer to think of the night in the language of what sefer we’ll be learning, it’s the Rambam’s introduction to Mishneh Torah.
If you prefer to think of the night in terms of a series classes, I’ve written an approximate series of titles below.
The schedule listed here is somewhat approximate.

12:30am-2am: Part One: Torah and Talmud in the days of Moshe and Tanach.
2am-3am: Torah Law during Bais Sheini until the compiling of the Mishna.
3am-4am: The Mishna and Talmud and related Seforim
4am-5am: Halacha and Torah thought after the final editing of the Talmud Bavli.

There will be breaks between each class, and coffee and snacks available throughout the night.
Shacharis will begin at 5:20am. Sunrise is at 5:53am.
There will be another Shacharis at 9am. Sof Zman Krias Shema is 9:39am.

Wishing you all a Good Shabbos and a Good YomTov
Rabbi Davidovich
